What is Fine Art Friday?
On the fourth Friday of the month, FAF gives local artists, designers, students, and galleries access to a professional photo studio, dedicating the weekend exclusively to shooting artwork. Gathering the creative community provides the benefit of effectively lowering everyone's costs. FAF is structured to provide professional services of photographing and documenting any form of 2D or 3D artwork to help you promote, market, display, and sell your work!
How does it work?
Stop by on a FAF evening and bring your artwork to our spacious downtown studio. We'll check-in your pieces and handle them with care. Stick around to see the artwork we've got lined up and mingle with other artists. By the following Monday evening, you'll be able to see your images via our website. Your artwork will be available for pickup anytime after 9 AM Monday morning or during normal business hours (8:30 AM-5:30 PM).
What kind of equipment do you use to photograph the artwork?
FAF is a division of SF Digital Studio, a commercial photography studio working with digital technology since 1994. Our array of digital imaging equipment includes a high resolution 39 megapixel Phase One digital back mounted on a medium format Hasselblad camera. This technology easily allows us to capture fine details and accurate color for inkjet print reproductions or for four color offset printing.
For $35, what do I get?
We understand the importance of a quality representation of your work at an affordable price. You'll get two file sizes available for download from our website. One at 562x562 pixels at 72 ppi for web publishing. The second one at 750x750 pixels at 300 ppi for print publishing. Your files will be on our server for one year to view, download, or share with friends, colleagues, or interested art buyers.
For $75, what do I get?
You get a high resolution 10”x10” at 300 ppi color managed file. If you only want to initially invest in the smaller file sizes, just pay $35. When you are ready for a larger file size to be used in a print ad or brochure; access the FAF website and download the larger file for another $40.
Do you have size limitations?
2D pieces sized 6'x6' and under are covered under the standard $35 price. If your art is larger than 6'x6', please contact us and we will be happy to give you a quote. We can also shoot 3D objects such as jewelry, sculpture, architectural models, prototypes, and more. Please inquire for costs and details.
Where is the studio located?
Our address is 1045 Sansome St. Suite 120 San Francisco CA 94111 415-788-7337 We are near Telegraph Hill, Levi Plaza, and a couple of blocks from the Embarcadero.
When do I drop-off and pick-up?
Drop-off is the fourth Friday of the month, from 4-8 PM. Pick up is from 8 AM- 7PM the following Monday. Check our website for any schedule changes and register on the site for automatic reminders of the upcoming FAF.
Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes, please pre-register to receive the $35 rate. Otherwise, the charge for drop-ins is $65 per shot. We encourage pre-registration in order to anticipate demand and keep the process flowing smoothly.
What kind of payment do you accept?
Payment is accepted via a Secure Online Credit Card transaction or Paypal service through our site.
